TBA Theatres is committed to providing a fun, exciting and safe environment for all its guests.  We have defined specific policies that will ensure that we will keep to this commitment.  One key to being a good corporate citizen in our communities is the enforcement of the movie ratings provided by the Motion Picture Association of America.  If there is ever any question about them or if you feel that we may have violated any of these items ourselves, please contact a theatre Manager directly or you can communicate directly to the owners of TBA Theatres through our contact page or send an email to customerservice@tbatheatres.com.   We take these policies and ratings guidelines seriously and will take all appropriate steps to see that we maintain our commitment to you.

TBA Theatres Policies

Admission Pricing

TBA Theatres is obligated to pay a large portion of your ticket price to a film studio so that they can pay their actors and crew for the tremendous amount of work put into making their films.  TBA Theatres charges the most reasonable price for admission to meet with this film studio obligation and  we try to be as competitive as possible so that you will return to our theatres to help us support the communities we serve.

In the spirit of this policy, you will find the pricing for admission on the main page for each theatre we operate.  Different locations may have different pricing for several reasons including geographic location, studio requirements, etc.  Please check the page for your theatre for the most accurate pricing.

Discount Tuesdays

Every Tuesday, TBA Theatres is proud to offer our  discount day.  All shows, all seats, are at a set low price.  Subject to film studio restrictions, of course.  Check our advertising to be sure that there are no restrictions before coming to the theatre.

Midnight Shows

All midnight performances carry a single admission rate.  Generally, this rate is the Adult evening performance rate, however, it may be different depending on the film or event.  Check the advertising for any variance from the Adult evening rate.  No discounts are available for these shows.

Group Events, Birthday Parties, etc.

Each event is priced on a case by case basis due to the variety of requests we receive and they are always reasonable.  Please contact the theatre manager with the details of your event request and you will be provided with the appropriate pricing.

Cell/Smart Phones - Text Messaging

TBA Theatres is committed to providing an enjoyable atmosphere for all guests attending the theatre.  Cell/Smart Phone usage is permitted in the lobby areas at all times and in the auditorium prior to the start of the film.  Once the lights go down in the auditorium, all cell/smart phones must be turned off or placed in vibrate mode.  Further use of these devices will be prohibited until the lights come back up at the end of the feature.

Cameras & Recording Devices

The recording of any part of a motion picture is illegal.  TBA Theatres supports the efforts of the National Association of Theatre Owners and the film studios in preventing piracy in its theatres.  If a member of our staff identifies someone violating this law, the local police will be contacted and a report will be filed against the offending guest.  Piracy carries stiff penalties, and even jail time for persons convicted of this practice.  TBA Theatres asks that all guests respect the hard work of the actors and crew and refrain from pirating their work.  In certain circumstances, TBA Theatres management may require that guests check-in or leave their recording devices outside the theatre.

Infants At The Movies

TBA Theatres understands that moms (and dads!) need movies, too.  Sometimes, the only way a parent can come see a movie is to bring their infant child with them.  We welcome guests with infants.  All we ask is that if your infant starts to fuss, please come out to the lobby to settle them so as not to disturb the other guests.  If you happen to miss a large portion of the film or wish to leave early because your infant continues to fuss, please seek out a theatre manager for a pass to return another time.

General Theatre Etiquette

TBA Theatres provides a safe and enjoyable place to see a film.  In order to maintain this environment, there are certain behaviors that are expected and prohibited.  Talking, smoking, kicking chairs, tapping feet, throwing items, texting, taking pictures or videos and using cell phones are all prohibited during a performance.  Respecting the people around you, moving your seat if requested by a theatre employee (during highly attended films), enjoying the film and eating lots of concessions are expected.

Outside Food or Drink

TBA Theatres operates a food service business as part of providing you a film going experience.  Much like you wouldn't bring your own dinner to a restaurant, we would not expect you to bring in your own candy, soda or other foods to our theatres.  Our theatres are supported primarily by our food service business because most of your ticket price goes directly to the film studios.  We, at TBA Theatres, keep our concession prices as low as possible to maintain the operation of our theatres, permitting us to continue to support the communities in which we serve.  The best thing you can do to support your local theatre is to buy a popcorn and soda on every visit!

Alcoholic Beverages

Alcoholic beverages may be served in some TBA Theatres locations.  We adhere to all laws surrounding the serving of alcoholic beverages to theatre guests AT ALL TIMES.  If you suspect a member of the staff is not properly serving guests, please bring it to the attention of a manager or the theatre owners and it will be addressed immediately.

Intoxicated Persons

TBA Theatres provides an environment fun for the whole family.  As such, TBA Theatres does not permit the admittance of intoxicated persons to our theatres under any circumstances.  If you are found to be intoxicated in our theatres, you will be asked to leave immediately.  No exceptions will be made.

Film Ratings Guidelines

The below information is published by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and the National Associaton of Theatre Owners (NATO).  Further information about the ratings and the rating system can be obtained at the MPAA website:  www.mpaa.org

A G-rated motion picture contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that, in the view of the Rating Board, would offend parents whose younger children view the motion picture. The G rating is not a “certificate of approval,” nor does it signify a “children’s” motion picture. Some snippets of language may go beyond polite conversation but they are common everyday expressions. No stronger words are present in G-rated motion pictures. Depictions of violence are minimal. No nudity, sex scenes or drug use are present in the motion picture.

A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision.

The more mature themes in some PG-rated motion pictures may call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated motion picture.

A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning by the Rating Board to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the motion picture, as some material might not be suited for them. A PG-13 motion picture may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category. The theme of the motion picture by itself will not result in a rating greater than PG-13, although depictions of activities related to a mature theme may result in a restricted rating for the motion picture. Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated motion picture generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. A motion picture’s single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating, as must even one of those words used in a sexual context. The Rating Board nevertheless may rate such a motion picture PG-13 if, based on a special vote by a two-thirds majority, the Raters feel that most American parents would believe that a PG-13 rating is appropriate because of the context or manner in which the words are used or because the use of those words in the motion picture is inconspicuous.

An R-rated motion picture, in the view of the Rating Board, contains some adult material. An R-rated motion picture may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to take this rating very seriously. Children under 17 are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about R-rated motion pictures in determining their suitability for their children. Generally, it is not appropriate for parents to bring their young children with them to R-rated motion pictures.

OUR POLICY ON R-RATED FILMS - We do more to protect your children!

The MPAA "R" rating implies that the film has adult-themed material. "Children are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about R-rated motion pictures in determining their suitability for their children." We believe it is YOUR adult choice to bring your child to an R-rated film. It is OUR choice to refuse admission if we feel the film is not suited for a child.

There are lawmakers in Washington D.C. who debate this choice every year, and thus far have failed in making it a law. Together, we can continue the practice of parents making the cinematic choice for their children, rather than Washington D.C. making it legal or not. We highly respect your choice as a parent, and we ask you respect our choice as a business owner if we refuse to allow your child into the film. At no time will we allow a "non-parent" or "non-legal guardian" to authorize the allowance of another person who is either not 17 and/or does not carry sufficient proof of age. Our goal is to provide quality entertainment for all those who choose to come to our theatres. A part of this goal is to uphold the MPAA ratings policies. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your support.

An NC-17 rated motion picture is one that, in the view of the Rating Board, most parents would consider patently too adult for their children 17 and under. No children will be admitted. NC-17 does not mean “obscene” or “pornographic” in the common or legal meaning of those words, and should not be construed as a negative judgment in any sense. The rating simply signals that the content is appropriate only for an adult audience. An NC-17 rating can be based on violence, sex, aberrational behavior, drug abuse or any other element that most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children.
